Hi, I am Laura Koty, the instructor for the Fire Service Technology Program at Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center! I grew up in Marysville and was a Running Start student. After graduating from Marysville Pilchuck High School, I obtained my associate’s degree in Fire Science from Everett Community College. I joined the fire service and worked as a Firefighter/EMT for 6.5 years, serving in Snohomish County and King County. I have worked in rural and city fire departments, which allowed me exposure to specialty disciplines such as low angle rescue, swift water rescue, surface water rescue, and technical rescue.

I began assisting with firefighter education five years ago at Everett Community College, where I work for their fire academy. I am also currently teaching the Introduction to the Fire Service class for their Fire Science Degree Program. Additionally, I work as an IFSAC Senior Evaluator, which is a position that is involved in the testing process for firefighters to become certified in Washington State.

I am excited to bring my industry experience and firefighter education background to Sno-Isle Tech students! Firefighting/EMS are demanding professions, and I am very passionate about teaching and supporting our next generation of firefighters.
